Spotify now lets you add podcasts to music playlists

What do you want to know

  • Spotify playlists now support adding podcasts.
  • You can create a playlist consisting entirely of podcasts or create a playlist that contains both music and podcasts.
  • Although you can listen to playlists on mobile and desktop, you can’t currently create playlists with podcasts on desktop.

Spotify and playlists go together like peanut butter and jelly. It’s one of the music streaming service’s most popular features with over three billion user-created playlists. Now it’s about to get even better, as Spotify has announced the ability to add podcasts to playlists.

Not only will you be able to create a playlist full of podcasts, but you can also mix and match music and podcasts. So no matter what you fancy, you won’t be limited by your playlist anymore.

Whether you like to binge on podcasts or enjoy a musical interlude between episodes, now you’ll have the freedom to create your playlist your way. To get started, follow these steps on your mobile device.

  1. Access a podcast.
  2. Tap the three dots to the right of the track or episode.
  3. Tap “Add to Reading List”.
  4. Select a playlist you’ve already created or tap new playlist to create a new one.

Once you are done creating a playlist, you will be able to access it from the “Playlists” tab in “Your Library”, like all your music playlists.

One of the best parts of creating a new playlist is sharing it with your friends, and playlists with podcasts are no different. Now you can collect all your favorite podcast episodes and share them with your friends, because everything is better between friends.

There is one limitation though, the current addition of podcasts to playlists only works on mobile. If you’re on a computer, you’ll still be able to listen to playlists that contain podcasts, but you won’t be able to add to them.
